The China Internship

For the internship part of the programme, you will intern with one of Catalai’s partner employers.

Catalai works closely with a large range of foreign and Chinese companies and organisations across all major industries. To see the different internship sectors click here.

Yes. When you apply to the Catalai programme you are asked to state 3 preferred industry sectors for the internship part of the programme.

If your application is successful you will be able to intern in one of your preferred industry sectors.

Can I choose which company I intern with?

No. Allowing applicants to choose which company they work for is impossible.

For the internship part of the Catalai programme, Catalai consults with its partner employers in the same way that headhunting and recruitment firms operate. Unlike other programmes, we don’t find or arrange internships for students – that approach doesn’t work for the benefit of the intern or the company.

Catalai values its long-standing relationships with partner employers, and works hard to ensure that each internship is beneficial for both the company and the intern. Catalai works closely with its partner employers to select suitable internship candidates. Our partner employers are able to benefit from our specialized search and selection process for the world’s best graduate talent.

Is the internship paid?

No. The internship part of the Catalai programme is unpaid. In some cases there may be a stipend or daily allowance available but that depends on the partner employer involved.

Will I find out which company I’m interning with before I depart?

Yes. You will usually be informed at least 2 months before departure.

In many cases the company may ask you to carry out some project work or research before your internship starts in China. Catalai ensures that sufficient communication from your internship supervisor is given well in advance of the internship starting. This way you will be well prepared for the internship and you will know what to expect when you start.
